BIO

Pontevedra, Spain. Summer of 1999. The passion for rock’n’roll of five good friends gives birth to Sugar Mountain. Their sound is compact, raw and direct rock’n’roll of strong riffs and catchy melodies. The band is formed by Javier Ruano (guitars & vocals), Rubén Álvarez (bass), Yago Carreño (guitar), Isaac Campos (organ & pianos), José Salgado (drums) and Nestor Busquets (percussion).

After recording two demos called 55 Tambo Island (2000) and A Little Sugar For Your Mind (2001), Sugar Mountain publish HCT -their first EP- in 2003, after touring continuously during their three years of existence and after having shared the stage with acts such as Dan Baird & Friends, Drive-By Truckers, The Bellrays, Diamond Dogs and many bands of the spanish scene all over the country.

In the beginnings of 2004 the band records their first full length effort, called Hand Crafted Tunes. The record is produced by the great Dan Baird (The Georgia Satellites, The Yayhoos), in love with the band since they played together the year before. The record is published in Spain by Good Sounds. Hand Crafted Tunes gets amazing reviews everywhere and takes the band to play all over the country as well as in Germany, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

Now the band releases the follow-up, In The Raw, their awaited second album. Produced by Eric ‘Roscoe’ Ambel (Del-Lords, Joan Jett, Steve Earle), mixed at Cowboy Technical Services recording rig by Greg Duffin (Robbie Fulks, Wilco) and mastered by Scott Hull (Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Steely Dan), In The Raw was released at the same time in Spain (Good Sounds) and the USA (Brewery Records) in october 2006.
