Sugar Mountain was formed in late 1999 in Pontevedra (Spain). Yago Carreño (guitar), Javier Ruano (guitar, vocals), José Salgado (drums), Rubén Álvarez (bass), Isaac Campos (hammond, piano) and Nestor Busquets (percussion) form this rock'n'roll band.

Having shared stage with the likes of The Diamond Dogs, Dan Baird & Friends, The Bellrays and many spanish bands all over the country, and after three demos (55 Tambo Island, Just Four…But Alive!, A Little Sugar For Your Mind) and one EP (HCT), they go into the studio in 2004 to record their first full length effort, called Hand Crafted Tunes, published by Good Sounds in september of 2004.

Under the production of Dan Baird (The Georgia Satellites, Yayhoos,...) the band was set out to make a great r'n'r record during two weeks in april of 2004.

All the plan was "there is no plan"... it was just about making a record that sounded like Sugar Mountain on a good night… raunchy, groovy and plenty of fun.

The result is "Hand Crafted Tunes", an album that shows just that… it's got the swagger, it rocks, it's fun… and it makes you turn the volume UP!
